Former Kosovo President Hashim Thaci today turns 55. Unlike past years when he celebrated near the family, this birthday date of Thaci finds him at The Hague, where he is being accused of war crimes by the Special Court.
Hashim Thaci, born 24 April 1968, is the fifth president of the Republic of Kosovo. He was the first prime minister of independent Kosovo, foreign minister and deputy prime minister in the cabinet led by Isa Mustafa, who took office on 12 December 2014.
Thaci was also the leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).
It was established in line as political leader of the Kosovo Liberation Army (UÇK).
Meanwhile, he also served as head of a temporary government in the end and shortly after the war in 1999.
