The quarterfinal match between two Italian teams was tense inside and outside the field, without aiding a series of suspicious decisions taken by the 38-year-old Romanian referee.
As reported by Italian journalist Luca Cerchione, UEFA has decided that Kovacs will no longer run any European matches for the remainder of the season as a result of his work in Milan's victory over Naples.
Kovacs had referred to four Champions League matches this season before the Milan-Napole match, including Real Madrid's 5-2 win over Liverpool in the 16th round.
