Police need new police officers and current ones training, experts say

Kosovo police need to recruit police officials, they are assessing security experts in Kosovo, who say better conditions must also be created. They even say that even current police officers should be trained in specific fields so that they can be available in any situation.

Rashit Qalaj, former director of the Kosovo Police, told Online Economy that this institution needs new police officers.

According to him, the opening of any competition is in order to meet the ceiling number, which is set by the Government of Kosovo.

I think that Kosovo police need police, they need new generations, Kosovo police have a certain number, so the ceiling number from the Government of Kosovo, and of course, if the contest is opened, the goal is to meet the number, which should be in the Kosovo Police and I think that every new generation that comes to the Kosovo Police has a very significant impact on the elan, energy and services in the most efficient aspect of security”, Qalaj told EO.

Qalaj says the resignations are largely due to working conditions that police officials have.

“Yes, of the information I possess the resignations is mainly in the serious economic situation, and working conditions. You know police have been neglected, there is no financial stimulus, there are no real equipment, there is no improvement in working conditions, so it's in a pretty bad state”, Qalaj said.

While security case expert Bedri Elezi has said he has problems recruiting police officers to resume, according to him, due to poor conditions. He said that police officers who are already on duty should be trained in special departments, such as cyberspace.

I remember that Kosovo police is well structured and have all of their departments, but to be honest, to the part of separate units I remember that maybe there is still a need for Kosovo to organise -- namely, different schooling for specific units of the Kosovo Police, especially units that are against cyber crimes, especially if we have some false acts in Kosovo, prohibited with the Criminal Code of the Republic of Kosovo, in cyber-related issues, as well as having the removal of national security that can come from specific structures outside Kosovo, especially if we have had some alarms in Kosovo's airport, which have resulted in Kosovo's economy of serious damage.

Meanwhile, for voluntary resignations Elez cited some of his reasons for moving the policeman away from office.
