Mayors of municipalities in Kosovo have called for a meeting with Prime Minister Albin Kurti and the government cabinet to address the demands and concerns that municipalities and citizens have.
Sazan Ibrahimi, chairman of the Kosovo Commission Association, at “Last Lames”, said there are many topics that must be addressed with the country's prime minister, Albin Kurti.
He said that at meetings Prime Minister Kurti holds a meeting with the mayors, the topics are bringing them to him, not addressing the problems that municipalities have, but about the topics they choose for themselves, as he added that in some cases these meetings are closed to the media, thus preventing citizens from informing them of what was discussed at those meetings.
“We have requested that we be transparent to citizens and municipalities, their websites are now blocked because of the central level, unable to inform citizens”, Ibrahim said in the “End left”, at RTK.
“If the government requires that the local level be transparent, then even the central level be transparent”, Ibrahim added.
He explained that at the next meeting we will invite the media to be present.
Ibrahim announced that he had received an answer from the government this afternoon for meeting with the mayors, which is said to happen on May 15th, but he added, without explaining the clock, either the country, or the agenda, or the topics on which they will be discussed.
“I think that the government should be more serious to the mayors of the municipalities”, Ibrahim said, until he added that some of the problems facing the mayors of municipalities have not yet received their support, concrete for the damage to the floods, then taxes on property, for which he blamed Minister Murati for failing to do the job properly.
“Minister Murati, without any consultation with municipalities, goes and makes decisions on meeting-the change of the property tax law, which has remained in the Assembly, which we hope this institution will be more aware and make the decision immediately”, Ibrahim said.
He added that municipalities with this bill hurt municipalities by millions of euros.
