According to this report, gender-based discrimination in the titles and descriptions of workplaces occurs when states are used sentences or expressions that suggest a preference for one gender or when they reflect cultural stereotypes about men and women in the workplace.
In this case, findings show that from an online employment platform 59% of the work competitions contain gender steroids. Meanwhile, competitions from platform “Superpua”, 79% contain gender stereotypes.
“From the analysis of 6,225 titles published on the online employment platform during 2022, 59% contain gender stereotypes, with 73% written in coded male languages and 27% written with coded female languages. And out of 1,357 published titles on platform “Superpua”, 74% contain male gender stereotypes and 26% contain female gender stereotypes”, the report says.
The discrimination also affects both gender wages. According to GAP Institute analysis, average salary on platform “The” coded with gender male stereotypes is 391.5 euros, for jobs that are coded with gender stereotypes for women is 336.3 euros, and for jobs without gender stereotypes is 412.6 euros.
In addition, analysis suggests that the sectors more women are wanted for are administration, education and health. And the sectors for which more men are required are trade and economy, electronics and energy, research and development, engineering and construction, maintenance and security.
