“Should be stressed that the minimum wage rate in Kosovo today, set for the first and last time in 2011, is not nearly enough in line with economic developments, especially with the population growth in inflation over the past year -- this is going on even this year. This has made life difficult for citizens, especially those who live in poverty. Kosovo today also has the lowest minimum wage in the region, keeping in mind that all countries in the region have already taken measures and decisions that have raised the minimum wage”, the signed letter said.
They have estimated the minimum wage as a step towards ensuring that all workers in Kosovo are paid with a more fair salary and reflecting the cost of living. “No matter how insufficient, this law will provide much needed relief to low-wage workers to make ends meet, and help reduce poverty and inequality”.
