Thomas Szunyog, chief of the European Union office (BE) in Kosovo, has condemned the attack on journalist Valon Syla.
He has congratulated Syla on rapid healing and has demanded that attackers be identified and prosecuted.
I join the AGK and other partners in Kosovo in condemning last night's attack on Valon Syla, director of Metro Journal. Freedom of speech is an essential value of the EU and must be protected. I wish him a quick recovery. Strikers should be identified and prosecuted”, he wrote on Twitter Wednesday.
He has added that the EU will continue supporting the media.
“The EU will continue to support the development of professional and pluralistic media in Kosovo”, it has continued.
Journalist Syla has been sentenced by three people in Pristina after the end of the T7 Pressing Show.
Kosovo Government, Kosovo Assembly, as well as international journalists' organisations has reacted to this case.
