Sejdiu for visa liberalisation: Kosovo citizens love their country and do not empty it

Former Kosovo President Fatmir Sejdiu has said that the recent vote in the European Council in favour of visa liberalisation for Kosovo is a historic decision. Sejdiu says such a decision implies an assessment by EU institutions for the progress Kosovo has made and that it is merited [...]

He has already stressed that visa liberalisation would regulate the free movement of people without being forced to flee Kosovo illegally, which, according to him, has damaged the country's image.

He has finally said that Kosovo citizens love the country and do not empty it.

This step of extraordinary values for Kosovo, of course it will get on the normal and sustainable track the free movements of our people, without being forced to take irreproachable and illegal acts of flight, and which actions often unfortunately have damaged its image. Kosovo citizens love their country and do not empty it. Thank the EU for the merit decision!”, Sejdiu wrote.

Full response:

A Historic Decision for Kosovo

The European Union Council decision, which consists of the member states' interior ministers for visa liberalisation for citizens of the Republic of Kosovo, is an extremely important decision for our country.

This step taken by this European mechanism is a strong assessment of what Kosovo and its institutions have witnessed with results and fulfillment of the required criteria, despite the major challenges they have faced.

The possibility of moving the country's citizens across the Schengen Zone, without having the need to supply visas, primarily expresses confidence in our country's people that they will respect the rules the EU envisions.

Similarly, this implies a step forward of Kosovo's movement in terms of its membership in important European mechanisms. It is this credit for all generations that have led with Kosovo.

The unanimous stance expressed with the adoption of this decision, as it essentially shows a new consideration for the now silent, EU member states that have not yet recognised the Republic of Kosovo.

This step of extraordinary values for Kosovo, of course, will get into normal and stable track the free movements of our people, without being forced to take illegal and disincentive acts of flight and which actions often unfortunately damage its image.

Kosovo citizens love their country and do not empty it.

Thank you EU for the merit decision!

Congratulations to Kosovo!
