The rise in electricity prices is expected to affect the expensiveness of other products

Former Finance Minister Haki Shatri has told Dukagjin that this move taken by ZRE would burden even more family economies. According to him, increased electricity prices would also affect the increase in prices of other products.

Just as Shatri suggests, economic connoisseur Safet Gerjaliu, who says that in addition to increasing the price of electricity, there may be abuses of other products because of the lack of inspectors.

There's a shortage of inspectors, it's something that can be misused by businessmen”, he said.

Former Finance Minister Haki Shatri has also mentioned the failure of electricity to Serbs in the north, saying it is discrimination for the rest of Kosovo citizens. Also, according to him, the Government of Kosovo has yet to subsidise electricity bills for citizens.

But there are others who think differently. Frees Jocaj from INDEP, says the “price of electricity in Kosovo has been kept politically printed”, which 20 years from Kosovo state leaders.

He has said that increasing the price of electricity is understandable in terms of the developmental aspect of the energy sector and the maintenance of the network.

“in terms of developing the energy sector and energy efficiency measures as well as the sustainability of the system, and maintenance we understand and understand the growth of electricity tariffs, but we always need to understand that the energy sector is the vital sector. Who without proper investment and maintenance would also cause economic weightiness in the country, but also social well-being”, Djocaj said.

Fineaj says this issue should be looked at economically as well, where increased electricity prices will be a burden for Kosovo citizens.

“The rise of the electricity price we need to see in two dimensions, is the economic dimension or the increased burden for consumers and energy security dimension in development and energy sector maintenance. In terms of the consumer, every price hike damages the citizen's pocket, and this 15.4% rise is proportional to all consumers, regardless of how much they spend or what category of consumers they are, will include every consumer, normally that would harm all of them”, Jocaj said.

According to him, rising energy prices should have been done gradually over the years, but this has not happened because of 20-year-old wrong policies. Because of those wrong policies, according to Jokaj the country's citizens now suffer the consequences, increasing the price of energy at once.

This would be much more ideal if consumers year after year were to set up the bill price if necessary, but it wouldn't be noticed much =, but with a view to the fact that this is the result of 20-year-old wrong policies, which, as a result of maintaining social peace, decided not to increase the price of electricity, out of pride that we have the cheapest electricity price in Europe. Against expensive electricity, all Kosovo opposition parties have been declared. They have said that a decision like this one of the 154% growth will be a heavy burden for Kosovo family economies.
