Democratic Party of Kosovo MP Hajdar Beqa has said the manner of leading dialogue by Prime Minister Albin Kurti has degraded talks with Serbia at a lower level.
He told EO that in the past mutual recognition has been on the table, but now it's only Association.
“I think the form as this government has led, or this prime minister, negotiations with Serbia has only lowered the level of talks and degraded the talks in proportion to Serbia”.
The “in the past has been at the centre of mutual recognition between the two states, in this case between the Republic of Kosovo and the Republic of Serbia. Now we have no recognition, but unfortunately there's an Association downtown. Point 10 seems to me, forcing the Government of Kosovo to accept all past agreements”, Beqa has indicated.
He said Kurti has not been authorised to distance reciprocal recognition from this agreement, and according to him, this agreement sends us to a “staus quo” that will not be in favour of Kosovo citizens.
“As a state we have an obligation to implement agreements that are signed, but agreements should be in harmony with the Constitution. We need to keep the reports with the Allies as well, we've seen the statements of the United States of America but also the European Union that are not being required by the Government of Kosovo for agreements contrary to the Constitution”.
I also think that the prime minister has not been authorized to remove mutual recognition from the topic, and I think that this agreement puts us in a status quo, which does not go in favour of the citizens of Kosovo given the high number of migrations we have”, he said. /economics
