Italian Ambassador: Any tendency to prevent a positive outcome in Ohrid could damage the dialogue process

Italian Ambassador to Kosovo Antonello De Riu, in a response to Clankosova.tv, said they refused to consider a negative scenario for tomorrow.

According to De Riu, negative reactions from Kosovo and Serbia have been received during the intensive campaign in the event of a possible agreement between the two sides.

“In these months, we have worked hard to bring about a positive outcome that brings peace closer to the region and intensifys the possibilities for Kosovo, Serbia and the rest of the region to become full members of the Euro-Atlantic community”, De Riu has indicated.

As to the possible consequences if one party refuses to sign the agreement tomorrow, De Riu said that “would not be right to publicly raise the question of negative consequences” on the eve of the Ohrid summit, while adding that “has yet to think of the worst scenario”

“We want to focus now on major opportunities for Kosovo stemming from an agreement on the application annex. There is still time to think about the worst scenario that we have no intention of considering at this stage.
