One year from the establishment of the Security Fund: Opposition seeks to make public collected sum

On March 1st of last year, the Kurti Government founded the Security Fund. The decision says that the opening of this fund was made for “strengthening the competence of security, the will and readiness of our exile and citizens in support of strengthening the security sector, as well as regional challenges stemming from the transition [...]
In some cases Prime Minister Kurti has hinted that millions of euros have been collected at the Security Fund, but the exact amount of a year has not been disclosed.
Democratic League of Kosovo MP Anton Quinn said there is no information and knowledge of the performance of this process. He said funds are not kept secret in democratic states and are monitored by relevant commissions.
“Regarding the Security Fund, I as a deputy and a member of the commission to monitor the security sector, have no information and knowledge about the performance of this process. I mean, by government authorities, it's kept confidential about how the fund is managed and what is the total sum. In democratic states, the issue of funds in the security sector does not contain secrecy and they are monitored by the relevant commissions with which democratic monitoring, transparency and accountability” is secured, Quinn said in an answer to the Journal Express.
Among other things, Musliu stated that “the bringing of Albin Kurti and his puppets in terms of this fund has only proved to us the plundering goals that they modified with the sure term”.
Musliu in a conversation with the Journal Express said they have no information on the amount collected in this fund, until he declared that Kurti has to report on the subject.
Their money, but if donors think they should donate their efforts to enrich Albin Kurti and the click surrounding it, then let them make their choice. Does anyone have to report on this fund? Of course I do. This fund has to be reported by his inventor, Albin Kurti. It has both moral and institutional obligations, and this obligation will sooner or later be unable to escape. Any escape from reporting is a step towards misusing this fund. Lack of reporting is testimony to the modern robbery led by Albin Kurti”, Musliu said.
The criticism of Kurti's fund also includes AAK deputy Paul Lekaj. He demanded that the amount collected in this fund be made public, while adding that this fund is “well and more than necessary”.
Lekaj has called on the Government to lobby for the Security Fund.
The Security Fund is managed by the Ministry of Finance, while later the collected means will be passed to the Defence Ministry for use as an additional budget.
