Turkish President Recep Tayip Erdogan has dismissed the possibility of delaying elections, following the devastating earthquakes of February month.
According to the Turkish president, elections will be held on May 14th.
The Turkish people will do what they need, on May 14,”, he has told lawmakers at the Ankara Parliament.
The Turkish leader has earlier proposed the 14 May election date, and hopes his government will remain in power by 2028.
But after mass earthquakes that have left more than 45,000 people dead in Turkey, there have been dilemmas if the polls were held as scheduled.
Erdogan has declared a state of emergency for three months in the 11 earthquake-hit provinces.
This region is facing powerful successions, making the campaign in that area almost impossible.
