Children want, different methods not to give birth in Kosovo

Alternative medical but scientific methods are being applied by women who want to give birth to male-gender children, despite the law on reproductive health, Article 23, in activities forbidden in assisted reproduction bans gender selection.

In addition, there are mainly gynecologists who are helping these women find a solution to gender selection, which is also punishable.

I've finally decided to release something that's probably not logical with medicine, says a mother who, in an interview for the RTK Road show, shows what methods she used to make gender selection.

The guy who did this to me was a gynecologist, a roll of a kid's ship, she was the definition I did, that she was on the girls' side, according to gynecologist”, she says in anonymous form.

After the birth of five girls, this Mother was pressured to have another son. In spite of her desire for a son, her husband had not changed his attitude toward her or pressured her. Meanwhile, the couple had their desire fulfilled.

It's not like we've done any family planning, but all the kids have come with a wish, so I have six children, five girls and a son, and I'm very happy”, she says.

“... After five girls have my son”, continues the confession of the Mother who, until she had decided to have another son, had not tried to even try to talk about a method about having a son.

With laws in Kosovo, the selection of the gender fruit is strictly prohibited and presents criminal acts.

This woman's confession is understood to contain doctors who violated the law by giving in to patriarchal customs. They certainly did so in countervalue, promising couples who would have a male child.

The woman who has agreed to talk about the Street show only anonymously shows that she is not the only one who has been recommended by gynecologist by alternative medical methods to get pregnant and have a son.

The topic of gender selection in Kosovo continues to be taboo. Although laws prohibit gender selection, the subject remains among the most controversial among women on social networks. The names of doctors doing this are even recommended.

It's Riza Malaj, gynecologist from Skenderaj who leads the list of doctors who don't hesitate to talk about the show Streets about the big demands he has from couples to have a boy.

“Now she's more of a gender requirement than she's got for other things, she's got 3-4 girls, and she loves another guy, or the opposite, but less often”, says doctor Malaj.

He says there are medical methods that have been successful by him in determining gender.

“... Some methods that have succeeded... 80% of the cases I take in know the case of the doctor even succeed, have a son... are countless the number of patients I've dealt with son”, Malaj proudly says.

Gynecologist Malaj is aware that such an act of gender selection is prohibited by law, but he says they did so because of couples' strong demands and wishes to have children of the two genders.

“The gender definition is unknown, and it's not legal... but this is not a method that requires stop, the desire for gender”, he says.

The mother who showed that she was treated to some gynecologists said that there were others who had proposed the possibility of artificial fertilization for her pregnancy. Although he does not mention them by names, he says that there were those who promised him sex selection.

“IVF has offered me a lot, but I have three of these doctors that I've been going to offer, if you can't do these methods that we're trying them out, we can go with the IVF, but I've already accepted”, she says.

The Malaj Dr. Malaj Road show has provided an audio recording made by a patient at a hospital on the Dukagjin Plains.

The editorial has not revealed the name of either the capital city, so that institutions allegedly violating the law through the definition of gender are not promoted. The patient is heard to say that she went only to consult this doctor. The artificial fertilization management strictly forbids doctors to provide information that is related to the quality of gender, information that the doctor is heard to provide from the start of his conversation with the patient.

In an interview on the Street show, Dr. Aida Cumnova, who is heard in those recordings, officially denies giving such recommendations, saying that these are just slanders of patients.

There is no safe approach to gender treatment, because in Kosovo it is prohibited by law and I can't talk to the patient about gender selection... There's no chance with the recommendation... we can't do it, and the one upstairs assigns the gender... or the IVF's chance, because it's prohibited by law”, says Dr. Aida Cumnova, obstetrician gynecologist.

The management of the Street Show on her findings has contacted the healthcare Inspectorate. This inspector is currently headed by the U.D. Chief Inspector Nora Kursan Demajha.

Health Ministry answers say they have no inspections in the sector.

“Health Inspectors conduct inspections on demand, complaint and inspections according to the work plan. According to information from the Health Inspectorate, there was no request for any inspection of this type”, said the Health Ministry's response.

Kosovo Gynecologists' Association Chairman Dr. Chiefs Lulaj says that if there are such doctors, they seriously damage the image of the whiteman.

Meanwhile, the chairman of the Association for the Protection of Patients Besim Kodra considers that despite patients ' demands, the selection of gender on the part of doctors constitutes serious criminal work.

I believe that the demand for gender selection comes at first with the women's demand, and then such service is ready to do even the doctors in exchange for money... for me any discussion of gender definition should not even be discussed. . This is also a criminal offence for the use of unlicensed” methods, has said of the Besim Kodra Ways by the Association of Patients of Kosovo

In the Kosovo Assembly, Parliamentary Commission for Health Chairman Fatmire Kolcak says the Health Ministry should urgently take steps to prevent these cases and investigate and increase accountability in relation to violators of the law.
