Bildt congratulates reaching the agreement in Ohrid: The lessons of the 2013 agreement must not be forgotten

Former Swedish Prime Minister Carl Bildt has reacted after reaching agreement between Kosovo and Serbia last night in Ohrid on the annex to implementing the basic agreement.

He in a post in Titter has congratulated Kosovo and Serbia, but also Miroslav Lajcak and Josep Borrell.

Bildt said you should not forget “the lessons of the 2013 agreement”.

“Ureme Miroslav Lajcak and Josep Borrell for reaching agreement after years of patient diplomacy. Co-ordination with the US has also been important. But, first congratulations on Kosovo and Serbia for the important step in their respective futures. But implementation of the agreement between Serbia and Kosovo will require very close management and monitoring in the years to come. The lessons of the 2013 agreement should not be forgotten. There is uncertainty that will require vigilance. And the agreement is critically dependent on the EU accession process for the region that moves forward and preserves its credibility both in the region and in all EU member states. None of it should be taken as given”, Bildt wrote.
