Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti, on the occasion of marking the anniversary of Ukraine's resistance from Russian invasion and aggression, has sent a letter to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, expressing our deepest sympathy and our sincerest empathy as a people.
In everyday communications among state representatives, there are numerous letters of congratulations marking jubilee independence and liberations. But it is rare in history to direct a president to a letter of congratulations on the anniversary of his country's ongoing resistance”, Prime Minister Kurti has launched a letter to President Zelensky.
We, he goes on, are two peoples who have lost many of our best citizens because of the imperialist and land-graving plans of neighboring countries. The prime minister added that although geographically distant, with very diverse peoples, our respective stories of the past century and of today have a visible similarity.
The prime minister recalled Kosovo Albanian resistance 23 years ago and how 19 democratic states came together to stop Serbia's genocide against our people. Now you are in front of a new war that should end Russia's genocide against your people, and end its imperialist efforts to take over your territory. And once again democracies, NATO member states, are supporting you, just as we were supported by”, the prime minister's letter said.
The full letter of Prime Minister Kurti to Ukraine's president, Zelensky:
Your Honor. President,
In everyday communications among state representatives, there are numerous letters of congratulations marking jubilee independence and liberations. But it is rare in history to direct a President a letter of congratulations on the anniversary of his country's ongoing resistance.
Mr. President, you are at war, a struggle of resistance for Ukraine, for Europe and democracy. You keep the highest scale of future history and the sacrifice of the people. We can't congratulate you more on the level of moral and political conscience than you've been doing for a year now. You have embedded your people and their sense of freedom.
From our hearts we express our deepest sympathy and our most sincere empathy. We are two peoples who have lost many of our best citizens because of the imperialist and land-graining plans of neighboring countries. Though geographically distant, with very diverse peoples, our respective stories of the past century and of today have a striking similarity. In this historical similarity our paths cross.
23 years ago we made our resistance, and NATO helped us to close Serbia's genocide cycle. 19 democratic states came together to stop Serbia's genocide against our people. Now you are in front of a new war that should end Russia's genocide against your people, and end its imperialist efforts to take over your territory. And yet democracies, NATO member states, are supporting you, just as we were supported.
You are fighting to protect democracy, territorial integrity, human rights and freedoms, the right of a people and the sovereignty of a state. These values are also at stake in our region: Russia's main ally in the Balkans, our north-verse neighbour Serbia, still holds a thin desire to undermine our sovereignty and take over our homes. Therefore, in a very real sense, your purpose is our goal; your battle is our battle.
Your Honor. President, you have the full support of the state and the people of Kosovo. By the Ukrainian journalists we have taken refuge in Kosovo, we have been better informed of everyday reality in your country. The stories of the courage and sacrifice of soldiers, their dedication to the country and the cause, which have defeated the odds against them and inspired the world and inspired the stories of the endurance and perseverance of people in the face of the brutal occupation of CHA have mobilised the free world to withstand Russia's aggression.
Your Honor. Zelensky, with the highest respect for you and the Ukrainian people, we wish you a decisive victory. We will be with you for rebuilding your cities, returning your people, mental and physical rehabilitation of your society and your membership as quickly as possible in NATO and the EU.
Glory to Ukraine,
Slave Ukraini!
