The messages, which were sent to the address of Chief of State Vjosa Osmani, in addition to congratulations and pledges for deepening reports, had also highlighted this year the need for normalising relations with Serbia within the EU plan.
US President Joe Biden says he welcomes the fact that the European Union's proposal from Kosovo is approved with “the eventual aim of mutual recognition”
“We welcome your approval for the EU's proposal to normalisation, with the eventual goal of mutual recognition, which can help secure a more peaceful and prosperous future for citizens of both countries, Kosovo and Serbia”, says the Biden letter.
The letter came to Osmani from the two author states of the EU, Germany and France plan.
The president of the Federal Republic of Germany, Frank-Walter Steinmeier, said dialogue with Serbia, led by the EU, remains an essential challenge for the country to normalise relations between the two countries.
The co-operation of both sides and a peaceful co-existence remain essential for the road to the EU. On this road you can be sure that you have Germany's support as Kosovo's reliable partner”, says President Steinmeier's letter of congratulations sent to President Osmani.
Meanwhile, France's president, Emmanuel Macron, has said in his letter that Kosovo has full French support in strengthening the rule of law, while calling for the resumption of discussions within the EU-relaunched Kosovo-Serbia dialogue.
The new geopolitical situation created by fighting Russian aggression in Ukraine has prompted the European Union to strengthen its political, economic and security engagement in the Western Balkans. This is what we focused on during our presidency of the Council of the European Union in the first half of 2022. In this direction, I welcome the solidarity shown by Kosovo for hosting Ukrainian refugees and journalists”, President Macro has said.
Urim also came from the Italian state, which recently stepped up efforts to promote Kosovo and Serbia to reach agreement.
Italy's President Sergio Mattarella in his tour of Osmani called for the urgent normalisation of reports between Kosovo and Serbia.
The current European Context makes it increasingly urgent to achieve a normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia. I sincerely hope that the European proposal for agreement between the parties can be accepted. This is also in behalf of Kosovo's perspective of European integration, which Italy strongly supports”, the Italian head of state is said to be blessing.
From the United Kingdom, congratulations came from the King.
King Charles's letter says he looks forward to continuing his friendship and strong partnership between the two countries.
I wish to express His Honor Suaj and the people of the Republic of Kosovo my warmest congratulations on this special day for your country on the occasion of Independence Day. I look forward to continuing the warm friendship and strong partnership between our two countries, as we face these challenging times”, says King Charles III's letter of congratulations.
