Biden made these comments to reporters as he arrived at the presidential palace in Warsaw, where he will attend the summit of nine Eastern European states.

This summit, attended by several NATO states, is taking place on the second day of Biden's visit to Poland.

The so-called Bucharest Group represents the countries that make up NATO's eastern wing. It's part of it: Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Chekhia, Slovakia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania.

Secretary - General NATO, Jens Stoltenberg, will also participate in the meeting.

Beden's visit to Poland is part of a series of consultations with Allies to prepare for a more complicated phase of Ukraine's Russian occupation, which began almost a year ago.

During his speech yesterday to citizens gathered outside the Royal Castle in Warsaw, he said Ukraine “would not be a victory for Russia”.

Before Poland, he visited Ukraine, where he stayed for over five hours.

The unprecedented visit there highlighted Washington's commitment to Kiev once again.

Biden warned Russia that if it attacks any NATO state, it would face a powerful military response. / REL
