Barcelona was in talks with the MLS club about signing the 21-year-old right guard for $6.5m in an agreement by 2026 and had reached a transfer agreement.
The club had already created space on their team for Arawooo to arrive, with the former defender of Arsenal, Hector Beller, who went to Sportsing Lisbon on the last day.
But as the Spanish team tried to hand over their documents to La Liga, Barcelona faced technical difficulties with the internet file system, according to football club sports director Matthew Alemany.
Alemany explained that Barcelona lost the deadline for a few seconds due to a “computer error” and said they hoped the FIFA would allow the transfer to pass.
“We didn't arrive in time due to a computer error ) delay was 18 seconds,” said Alemany: “We will have to wait and see what FIFA” will decide.
