They announced they want access to the voters' list to control it, as local and European organisations that monitored elections in Serbia on December 17th expressed doubts about their regularity.
Students announced they will wait until noon for answers by the responsible authorities and later will announce which two locations in Belgrade will block the circulation in the streets, as a sign of protest. They added that the blockades would last six hours.
The blockades will also join a group of students from Novi Sad University.
Nearly 40 demonstrators were arrested during a protest by the opposition coalition “Serbia against violence” on December 24th in Belgrade, after a group of masked people tried to enter the Belgrade Assembly.
During the protest, some broke the windows and doors of the building, while police inside threw tear gas at them.
The coalition “Serbia against violence” (SPN) said incidents in the opposition protest in Belgrade on Sunday were caused by “juligians sent by the government”.
“Autorities used violence to present peaceful protests as violent”, SPN said.
They announced that “the extradition of hooligans” to trigger incidents in protest has been used by the government to undermine the initiative of protesters seeking repeat the December 17th elections.
The opposition has protested since the December 17th elections, claiming they were stolen from the ruling Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), among other things, registering their voters from abroad. / REL/
