LDK chairman Lumir Abdixhiku said that at the time of the founding this party was the largest political organisation of the time.
The 1989 end of most of Europe was a period of restoration of democracy and human freedom as a natural consequence of the fall of the totalitarian communist system that for decades had kept peoples around Europe being oppressed. Kosovo and Albanians were exempt. A month after the fall of the Berlin Wall, exactly, on December 23, 1989, prominent intellectuals of the day had begun destroying the wall of secular oppression against the people of Kosovo. In response to the monument call of history, these had created the largest and most significant historical movement of the Kosovo Albanians Democratic League of Kosovo with our historic leader, historic President Ibrahim Rugova”, Abdixhiku has said.
Abdixhiku has spoken about the party's role during the era of occupation and after declaring independence, saying Kosovo state-building holds “vulla” The LDK's and that this party will work to make it the first on the political scene, while criticising the ruling Vetevendosje Movement for holding Kosovo hostage to its “text”.
The fourth “Decade is the decade of the pro-Western Kosovo test, is the decade of Kosovo's NATO membership and EU travel. It's a decade of development, modernization, it's a decade of new road to population. Today at this anniversary, I want to draw attention to the challenges with which our Republic, led by the population who choose power tools, oxidized in public and polarising disks in the country, Kosovo is not reaching even large developmental steps in the country, nor to build internal co-operation bridges, even fewer bridges of communication with our traditional allies. Our economic, educational, health, legal, social, international potential is a hostage to the whims of populations who find themselves guilty of failing to act. Our Republic, Kosovo's independent and sovereign state is guided by its distrustfulness, so the LDK's presence as the key factor in the state is vital, and therefore we have to ensure this presence as soon as”, Abdixhiku said.
Abdixhiku said the LDK will preserve its principles as a modern, developmental and responsible party and make prudent decisions, and have as a mission to be the first party in Kosovo.
