The masterpiece of Pablo Picasso of 1932, Femme a la Monterre (A woman for Hours), has been sold for 139 million dollars, according to the Sotheby auction center.
This is the second most expensive work ever sold by this Spanish artist.
However, Femme a la Montre (A woman an hour) has become the most expensive sold in auctions this year.
The artist portrayed Marie-Therese Walter, the French model he had a love relationship with, and he had an inspiration for other paintings.
The painting was initially estimated at $120m before it was put up for sale.
This painting of the Spanish artist was formerly owned by art collector Emily Fischer Landau, who bought it in 1968.
The work is now purchased by an anonymous buyer.
Femme a la Montre, is Walter's portrait, sitting on a chair that looks like a royal throne and has a blue background.
Known as the “golden” of Picasso, Walter was 17 years old when he met with 45-year-old Picason in Paris, and started a secret link, since he was still married to Olga Khokhlovan, Ukrainian dancers.
The picture that was sold the most expensive in the author of Piccaso is the Algerian women, worth $179.3m, in 2015.
Born in Mallaga in 1881 and raised in Barcelona, Picasso moved to Paris in 1904 and became one of the most important artists of the 20th century.
He had four children and died in southern France in 1973, at the age of 92.
Although his creative legacy has never been questioned, in recent years the dilemmas for his behavior increase.
He is accused of cruel and austerity approaches.
