These two elite police units said they would not stop until their demands are met, while asking not to be played with their dignity.
The Special Intervention Unit initially indicating the boycott of dignified treatment and not meeting their demands did not participate in the “Darca of Lama”, which was organised by President Vjosa Osmani's office at the special units camp “Enver Zymer” in South Mitrovica.
Some of these FIT members, who were also part of the police action that took over in Zvecan Banjsk, had refused to sit at the “Darca table of Lama” that was imposed on October 18th, 2023.
The Special Intervention Unit (NJSI/FIT) entered the category of Kosovo Police elite units. It was founded in 2007 as they participated in numerous operations that were marked over the years since its founding, starting with the last one, the terrorist attack on the Banissca of the Zvecan municipality.
Another event FIT led was the arrests that took place in the north of the country in recent months. These included the arrest of Milun Milenkovic, known as “Lulne”.
The FIT unit had also participated in the arrest of former head of the Office for Kosovo in Serbia's government, Marko Djuric, in 2018.
Kosovo police have several special units, starting with the Fast Response Unit, Special Operations Unit and others, but the roof unit within the Special Unit is exactly NIS.
The Special Intervention Unit (NJSI), conducts security operations in particular cases and resolving situations that other police services cannot be faced with.
We remember that under the Kosovo Government's proposal, with which police officers from this elite unit disagree, members of elite units (the Special Intervention Unit, the Fast Intervention Unit and the nearby Protection Unit) will receive an additional 150 euros in the base wage.
