US President Joe Biden spoke yesterday with Emer, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad al Thani of Qatar for developments in Gaza and “ongoing emergency efforts” to ensure the release of hostages held by the militant group Hamas, the White House said.
Mr. Beden “unequivocally sentenced the hostage holders of Hamas, including many young children, one of whom is a three-year-old American national whose parents were killed by the terrorist group on October 7th, the White House said in a statement.
Qatar is the main mediator in hostage negotiations, reports Sky News, broadcasts Klankosova.tv.
The two leaders agreed that all hostages should be released without further delay”, the White House statement said.
Last week, the CIA chief and head of the Israeli Intelligence Agency, Mossad, were in Qatar where they met the country's prime minister and other officials.
The White House statement did not mention a ceasefire, saying leaders spoke of the need “to protect innocent civilians and continued efforts to increase the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza”.
