At least 30 babies are evacuated from the Shefa hospital in Gaza.

At least 30 premature babies have been evacuated from the main hospital in Gaza on Sunday and will be transferred to Egypt, the Health Ministry said in this territory, while dozens of other patients in critical condition continue to be in hospital, three days after Israeli forces entered the facility of this health institution.

The fate of newborn babies at Schiffa Hospital received global attention after publishing images shown by doctors trying to keep the babies warm. Due to a lack of electricity, incubators and other equipment went out of office, as they finished supplies of water, food and medicine at the time when Israeli forces fought outside the hospital building with Hamas the Palestinian group declared a terrorist organisation by the United States and the European Union.

The World Health Organization (OBSH) on Saturday visited Schiffa Hospital and said 291 patients were still there, including 32 babies in extremely serious health condition, patients with extremely infected wounds and those with spinal injuries and cannot move.

Medhat Abbas, spokesperson for the Hamas-led Health Ministry, confirmed about AP-in evacuation of babies, giving no more details. WHO has not yet confirmed the evacuation of babies.

The Schiffa Hospital where, except the patients, a number of those displaced from fighting between Israel and Hamas have been sheltered.

Close to 2,500 displaced persons, patients and medical staff members left the hospital Shikoja on Saturday, O said The BSH, adding that 25 health staff members continue to stay together with patients.

Israel has long claimed that Hamas has a command center inside and under Schiffa. Israel has described the hospital as a key goal of its struggle to end Hamas' rule in Gaza following attacks by the extremist group in southern Israel six weeks ago, attacks that sparked the war.

Hamas and hospital staff deny these claims.

Over 11,500 Palestinians have been killed, according to data presented by Palestinian health authorities. Another 2,700 have been reported missing and believed to be trapped under rubble. In the victims' figures, presented by health authorities in Gaza, there is no distinction between the civilians and the Hamas fighters. Israel has said it has killed thousands of Hamas' warriors.

Meanwhile, some 1,200 people have been killed in Israel, mostly civilians, during the October 7th attacks of Hamas. Hamas also captured hostages about 240 people. The Israeli army has said 52 soldiers were killed during the war. / REL/
