Rama after the summit: Your presence here in Tirana is a gift of heart, Albanians appreciate it

Yesterday the EC president presented the application, while today the doors open for application and next year people will start their lessons at the College of Europe in Tirana. Something's really happening, and it's so amazing.

I want to share an annex of the meeting with a former EU prime minister, and when I asked him what living in the EU is like, he told me that there are thousands of people in my country who closely follow what we are doing for the EU. I told them we're opening the college, so you're telling everyone you're gonna be controlled.

The difference is they don't torture you physically with a smile. I know someone named Mark Rutte who taught me how to torture someone with just one smile.

After all, our past has been determined with many bad things that were due to lack of institutions. Even the institutions that were built were badly built.

The best of their construction can be done with the help of the EU, which shows us how it gets better.

But we complain, sometimes even scream, about giving up that it is not easy and hard.

I want to thank everyone who supported us all the way.

We don't have to agree on everything. It is one thing to disagree graciously and another not to agree harshly.

It seems like very simple things, but it's only by being in the company of EU people.

I want to thank you, Ursula, Charlie, Markim and all those from Be, because only your presence and spending your time here in Tirana is a gift of heart, it's a gift that we Albanians really appreciate because they were kicked out of the world for a long time, and for the first time we had a free choice. Because of true merit of the Albanian people, which was the first free choice.
