US Vice President Kamala Harris said Washington has no plans or intentions to send troops to Israel or Gaza.
“We have absolutely no purpose, nor do we have any plans to send combat troops to Israel or Gaza”, Harris said in an interview for CBS News aired on Sunday, AA follows.
It stressed the importance of respecting the rules of war in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and continuing the flow of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
“A terrorist organisation, Hamas, killed hundreds of young people at a concert. According to many estimates, at least 1,400 Israelites have died. Israel, without a doubt, has the right to defend”, Harris said.
“Hamas and Palestinians should not equal”, she said, adding that Palestinians deserve “equal security measures”.
The US vice president also urged Iran to stay out of conflict.
Israel has launched a massive Gaza Strip bombing campaign following a cross-border attack by the Palestinian group Hamas on Israeli territory on 7 October.
More than 9,500 people have been killed in the conflict, including 8,005 Palestinians, mainly children and women, and over 1,538 Israelis.
Israeli Army spokesman Daniel Hagari announced on Saturday that Israeli forces were expanding their operations and moving to the next <x0phaza war against Hamas”, which includes ground operations.
Gaza's 2.3 million residents are facing a lack of food, water, fuel and medicine due to the blockade from Israel.
