Marion: Kosovo is in a very complicated situation, the only solution is dialogue

The president of the Universal Peace Federation for Europe and the Middle East, Jacques Marion, declares that following the September 24th terrorist attack on the Banjska of Zvecan, Kosovo is in a more complicated situation and the only solution to achieve peace between the two countries is dialogue. Marion in an interview for Kosovo Press, estimates that the European Union should become more involved in dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia, with the sole goal of having a common solution.

He says at the same time, Kosovo can be organised even more within the country at the level of civil society and can organise an atmosphere or an environment that enables easier ties between Serbs and Kosovars.

Marion, while talking about Kosovo's position in dialogue, says that despite the two countries having different positions, they also have common interests.

Kosovo is in a more complicated situation now because it is in the midst of a conflict and conflict has intensified. And so I think it should be mostly the focus on dialogue. And dialogue, of course, cannot only include Serbia and Kosovo, the EU should be involved much, I think, as everyone mentioned, the EU should be even more involved, you know, probably positively involved in that dialogue. But I think Serbia and Kosovo have, of course, different attitudes and can stay in their positions, but also have common interests”, Marion claims.

According to Marion, the focus should be on common interests rather than unilateral attitudes.

The situation, created in the north of the country where the sergeant, Africa Bunnjak, was killed, he says that situation shows there is a manipulation of the conflict and that it is unacceptable.
