Former British Government Deputy Prime Minister David Lidington, in an interview for Radio Free Europe, has said that the situation in northern Kosovo “is very dangerous”, until it has indicated that long-term stories about the exchange of territories, “have contributed to increased uncertainty”.
My “My decision is that the borders of Kosovo, which are recognised by most EU countries, the US and Great Britain, should be accepted as such, but Serbia and Kosovo should find a way to live together, as well as pledge to respect the religious and cultural traditions of minorities and the sacred sites that are located in their territory”.
The English politician has stressed that it is fair to be asked by the Kosovo government to respect Orthodox sites and signs, but according to him, Serbia should do so.
Therefore, it is fair to tell authorities in Pristina that they should truly respect Orthodox holy sites that are now on the territory of Kosovo and that they should respect Serbian cultural traditions. The same should be true of Belgrade when it comes to minorities and their traditions within Serbia”, he added.
I think this is the way ahead. There are decisions Kosovo leaders must make and decisions Serbia's president, Aleksandar Vucic”, must make.
Speaking to Russian President Vladimir Putin, he has said he will do everything he can to stop Western Balkan countries on their European and Euro-Atlantic path.
Otherwise, Lidington from 2010 to 2016 served as minister for European Affairs in the government of David Cameron.
