Hamas' political leader in the West Coast has said he believes the militant group will be able to issue several hostages if Israel agrees on a 24-hour ceasefire.
“Hamas has no interest in keeping women and children, and is likely ready to release them and foreign hostages if Israel agrees to cease hostility to allow humanitarian aid in Gaza”, Sheikh Hassan Yousef said in an interview for “Globe and Mail”
We have hostages who are our guests, and we don't have anything with these hostages”, he said.
He added that “when the circumstances allow it, we will release”. Yousef urged the international community to negotiate a break so some hostages can be released.
We're ready. Let it happen. But the attack must stop”.
