German Chancellor Olaf Scholz was forced to leave the plane shortly before leaving Tel Aviv, due to a missile attack. Passengers were asked to lie down.
According to Welt, there were journalists at the time of the attack who were forced to lie on the runway. Hamas' two missiles were neutralised over the airport by Israel's Iron Dome defence system. The Chancellor did not lie on the plane floor, but instead he went to a container to take refuge. After a few minutes, passengers were able to get back on the plane.
German Chancellor Olaf Scholz said today he had discussed ways to receive humanitarian aid to civilians in the Gaza-circumstated Strip.
German and Israel are united as democratic states, acting on the basis of justice and law even in extreme situations... I have discussed with Prime Minister Netanyahu ways to allow people in Gaza to receive humanitarian aid as soon as possible”, Scholz stressed at the press conference he gave with the Israeli prime minister.
“We want to protect civilians and prevent the deaths of civilians”, the German Chancellor said.
