As reports, national coach Luis de la Fuente will speak with SPG defender within meetings with potential captains Luis de la Fuente develops with the most experienced national players.
Ramos, who has more presentations for Spain (180), could be called for the March Euro-2024 qualifying matches against Norway and Scotland, but that will depend on the way he will perform in the coming weeks.
If Sergio is not included in Spain's team for future matches, Yordi Alba (91 presentations), Coche (70), Alvaro Morata (61) and Cesar Azpilicueta (44) will be candidates for captain.
Ramos's last match for Spain took place almost two years ago. In March 2021, he participated in the 2022 World Qualification match against Kosovo (3:1). The 36-year-old defender was not included for the 2022 World in Qatar. Ramos made 26 appearances for SPG this season in all races, scoring 1 goal and 1 assisting.
