Alireza Akbar, with British and Iranian citizenship who was sentenced to death in Iran, has been executed, Iran's state media say.
His family has been seeking to go on their last visit Wednesday, and his wife said he was sent to isolated cells, the BBC reports, conveys Klankosova.tv.
Akbar, former Iranian deputy defence minister, was arrested in 2019 and sentenced on charges of spying on the United Kingdom.
Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has invited him to stop execution and immediately release him.
British Foreign Secretary James Cleverly on Friday warned that <x0Iran must not follow through the brutal threat of execution. This act is politically motivated by the barbarical regime that has full disregard for human life”
The official medium of Iranian judiciary “Mizan” also reported that Alireza Akbar was hanged, without setting an exact date for execution.
Iran posted a video of Mr. Akbar this week showing what seemed to be forced confession.
The Persian BBC broadcast a mesage audio Wednesday by Mr. Akbar, in which he said he had been tortured and forced to confess on camera for crimes he had not committed.
