Cholls: Kosovo commit to agreement with Serbia with centre recognition

“We do not want to be in a situation of crisis management, as happened under the Christmas period in the north. Kosovo must commit to agreement with Serbia, which should have recognition at the centre”, Chollet said.

The prime minister of the Republic of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, hosted the Government building today, senior adviser to the US State Department, Derek Chollet, who is now staying in Kosovo under his visit to the region.
During the meeting, Prime Minister Kurti announced Mr. Cholles with the government's work and achievements in the year we just left behind. He shared with the country's latest economic and democratic indicators, and underlined common goals for development and democratisation. Prime Minister Kurti thanked High Councillor Chollet for his visit, continued communication and commitment. The United States of America is a key partner and ally of the Republic of Kosovo, Prime Minister Kurti said, as he stressed the country's goals of even stronger partnership with the United States and NATO integration.
The process of dialogue, the European plan and reports between Kosovo and Serbia were also discussed. The need for active and constructive engagement in dialogue and for intensifying efforts towards the full normalisation of relations between Kosovo and Serbia with mutual recognition at the centre was stressed.
At a meeting, Mr. President. Chollet was accompanied by US Special Envoy, Assistant Secretary of the United States for European and Eurasian Affairs Gabriel Escobar, Deputy Secretary of Defence for European Policy and NATO Spencer Boyer, Ambassador of the United States of America to Kosovo Jeffrey Havenier, Chief of Staff of Council Council Choll, Laura Updegreve, Special Assistant Adviser Dr. Florence Akinyemi and Political and Economic Adviser at the American Embassy in Kosovo, Ralan Hill.
