In April 2021, England's Great Greece, along with some of Europe's largest clubs, decided that they would break out of W EFA would create their competition, writes Periscope.
Fans immediately hated the idea, even those supporting the six English teams to take part in the tournament, and fans protested abroad even during the time of Covid.
However, the dream of clubs making more money seemed to have ended very quickly with Premier League teams pulling one by one.
Eventually, only Barcelona, Real Madrid and Juventus were left out of 16 initial teams that wanted to break down, and they actually remained.
The group is currently involved in legal disputes with UEFA, with a recent decision going in favour of the European Steering Body and allowing them to stop any team or player trying to secede.
Despite this, Laporta is convinced that all the work will continue in 2025 and thinks the teams from England can still unite.

I wouldn't have entered this project if it wasn't an open race and was accepted by Real Madrid, Juventus and other clubs that haven't yet shown their faces, but they are very interested in this competition”.
“The superleague will become reality in 2025, if the resolution is favourable”, he said.
