Germany's envoy for the Western Balkans, Manuel Sarrazin, has said Kosovo and Serbia should learn from the experiences and mistakes of the German state.
Asked by Serbian media what the new “armament of talks on dialogue between Pristina and Belgrade may be about, and whether it is the model of the “two Germans”, he replied he is happy if the good parts of his country's history can be used for progress and reconciliation.
We have made mistakes and we want Serbia and Kosovo to learn from our good experiences, but also from our mistakes. The situation in this case is different from that in Germany”, Sarrazin told TV Prva.
“Kosovo is a well-functioning country, even though there have been problems during the summer”, he stressed that his task is to discuss in Belgrade where Serbia is not adequately meeting the Brussels Agreement to normalise relations.
From here I go to Pristina and tell them where to contribute more and behave smarter. This does not mean that both sides are just as guilty and that the pressure should end. We want to support citizenship, but “one, two, three... that's what needs to be done best”, Sarrazin added, broadcast Klankosova.tv.
