“Ukraina and its allies were trying to impose a completely different gear on the Russian aggression, Lavrov argued, The Guardian reported on Thursday.
Lavrov has arrived nearly an hour and a half late at the UN Security Council meeting and left as soon as he finished speaking.
Britain's Foreign Secretary James Cleverly spoke at the council meeting after Lavrov's speech, where he said the UK would support Ukraine all the way and for as long as it should.
He added that Russia has tried to replace “those who impose sanctions” and that “every day, the devastating consequences of the Russian invasion are becoming clearer”.
