The chief of executive said September 29th should be remembered and celebrated with joy after Germany passed a peaceful uprising and that citizens of the German Democratic Republic would no longer fear fatal shootings at the border or being spying on by its own state.
This peaceful uprising has come not only because it was the will of the people but also that NATO and the European community stood firm, that wise and far-reaching leaders, from Gorbachev to Reagan, from Mitterand to Kohl, could read the signs of its time. From these experiences, we learn and develop”, Kurt said.
He said Kosovars are happy to recognise a united democratic Germany, with the good people and the government trusted in its side.
We all know that our friendship is special. It is not based solely on strategic, political or economic interests. It's much more than that. We share the same concept of basic human rights and liberal and social values. We have this connection that is strong, this connection that is largely carried by our exiles living in Germany, who are also deeply engaged in Kosovo, with their hearts and minds and savings. If I envy Germany for something other than being brought to us by the most famous scholars and composers, it is the home of all these hardworking people. You owe us a big debt of” Kurt said.
Kurti said Kosovo is grateful to Germany for providing refuge for Kosovo refugees during the last decade of the 20th century, then for staying firm with NATO and our people to stop genocide, grateful for more than 1 billion euros in development assistance and for continued political support on the international level.
The “specifically those who did not want the wall to fall in Berlin are already waging a criminal war against Ukraine. They lost then and, three decades later, will lose again”, Kurti concluded.
