The referenda have been strongly condemned by Western governments and Kyevi and are described as illegal.
Several parts of Donetsk, Luhansk, Zaporizia and Khersoni -- who are occupied by Russia or by pro-Russian forces -- have started referenda to leave Ukraine and join the Russian Federation.
Speaking to reporters Friday, Peskov cited what steps they will take from Russia if these regions vote to join Russia.
“Of course, discussions will be required by parliament and the president, as well as signatures of necessary documents. These are procedures”, Peskov said.
Asked whether any attempt by Ukraine to regain these territories would be described as an attack on Russian territory, Peskov said: “of course”
“If the act of entry of these territories is carried out within the Russian Federation, then certain provisions of the Constitution will apply to those countries”, he added. /Periscopi/
