A relative found the elderly man with severe injuries this Monday at his home in Redmond, about 250 miles [400 km] south of Perth.
When the paramedics arrived at rural property, the kangaroo prevented them from treating the injured.
Police managed to neutralise the situation, but 77-year-old passed away at the scene.
A police spokesman told the media that the man had been attacked by kangaroo, a wild, aggressive animal.
According to the BBC, Australia is home to about 50 million kangaroos, who can weigh up to 90kg and grow up to 2m long.
“Kangaroos have many weapons like sharp teeth, claws and powerful feet”, said kangaroo behaviour expert Grame Coulson for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.
Urban development throughout Australia is increasingly affecting wild kangaroo habitats. /ToopChannel/
