State news agency, I The RNA, has announced the sentences for Zahra Hamadani and Elham Chubdar on 5 September, after the human rights network, Hengaw, said both women were informed of the sentence several days ago.
The Islamic Revolutionary Guard has accused two women of <x0 compromise of homosexuality, fraud, promotion of illicit sex relations, as well as publication of them on the internet”.
Hengaw has said that the Umia Revolutionary Court has both ruled that “corruption on Earth”, “compromise of the Christian religion” and “communicaming with media opposing the Islamic Republic”.
Neither Hamdani, 31, nor her supporters have commented on the charges.
It has also been banned by authorities in October 2021 for its posts on social networks to protect the LGBT community.
A month later, she was arrested while leaving the country and reportedly had no access to her lawyer.
Members of the LGBT community are forced to hide their sexual orientation in Iran, as homosexuality is punishable by death.
