German Chancellor Olaf Scholz wants to boost co-operation with the United Arab Emirates in the energy sector after declaring that “a whole series of oil and liquid natural gas projects (LNG) are already in line with the Gulf State”.
During a visit to Abu Dhabi, Scholz stressed the importance of supporting as many bidders as possible for power supply, the dpa broadcasts, sends Albinfo.ch.
” Dependence from a single supplier will certainly not happen again”, he stressed.
Before the Russian invasion of Ukraine, Germany purchased 55% of its gas from Moscow.
However, since the beginning of the war, the German government has sought new sources of supply.
Meanwhile, shipments from Russia have largely ceased.
