The package was announced at a press conference by Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Economy Minister Robert Habeck and Finance Minister Christian Lindner.
The new measures of relief include a gas ceiling price to be financed by the Economic Stabilisation Fund (WSF), which was originally created to ease the economic and social impacts of the coronary pandemic in the economy, reports DW.
Financing the price of ceiling gas was a major challenge for the government, with Linder insisting that Germany restore its borders to net borrowing, which had been temporarily removed during the pandemic until next year.
Scholz spoke of the necessity of lowering energy prices for consumers and businesses, saying gas prices should be lowered.
The German government will do everything in order for prices to fall”, he said.
Lindner said Germany is now showing its power in what he called a <x0); energy war”.
