Gashi: During government we had threats from Islamic and other groups, but we didn't make them public.

He says some of the personalities have accepted additional security measures until others have seen these measures not necessary.

I was one of the people on the list of “People's Eye” to be executed. On that list at the time was President Thaci, Fatmir Limaj, and several other people. The police have informed us. Those who have felt the most vulnerable in a few weeks have taken special protection. Until I and others have felt the danger and received no immediate protection. A few days later, several of the individuals in the organisation were arrested”.

Gashi says such threats occur over and over again, but, according to him, did not cause them to overreact.

“We during the time of government have constantly had threats from Islamic and other groups during the time of government, but not all were made public because they are not considered very serious. Police have been a little more alert around the home or workplace. If the police were to take over close protection they should not have done any other job, as that protection is done by two and more policemen”, Gashi said in Dukagjin.
