“We do not accept that the Aegean Sea and that Mediterranean are washed out in blood, tears or enmity”, Erdogan said Tuesday, according to his office.
We want peace and tranquillity with all our hearts”, he said.
Erdogan has criticised Greece earlier as dealing with migrants, accusing this state of arming islands east of the Aegean, violating international treaties.
“The weapons collected in the western area and on islands mean nothing to us because our powers and capacities exceed our”, Erdogan said according to state news agency Anadolu, writes REL.
Erdogan has said Monday that his government will defend state interests against Greece, with all means at its disposal.
Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis has said several times that he is willing to hold meetings with Erdogan.
But the Turkish president has refused to meet Greek representatives.
Ties between these two neighbouring countries are tense recently.
Ankara believes Greece is violating the Treaty of Lausanne of 1923 and the 1947 Paris Treaty, arming the islands.
Athens reasons arming itself by citing threats from Turkey and mentions the right to self-defense.
