The State Department's claim is based on the declassified assessment of American intelligence published on Tuesday.
A senior official from President Joe Biden's administration said: “We think this is just the tip of the Iceberg”.
Russia has not been declared on this issue. Moscow itself has repeatedly accused the United States of interference in other countries.
US intelligence “estimates that these are minimal figures and that Russia has probably transferred additional funds secretly in cases that have passed by”, the administration official Biden said during a telephone conversation.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity.
The US intelligence assessment revealed on a network did not mention specific names of countries or officials believed to have been targeted by Russia -- but said they were lying on four continents.
The administration official said the American intelligence community was now privately informing the states of the alleged secret Russian financing. Information will remain confidential, the official added.
A source of knowledge administration of the case claimed Russia had spent about $500,000 to support Albania's Democratic Party in the 2017 elections and also supported parties or candidates in Bosnia, Montenegro and Madagascar, according to the AFP news agency.
The source also said the Kremlin had used Brussels as a centre for foundations and other fronts supporting extreme right-wing candidates.
Power companies were reportedly used to finance European parties and buy influence in other countries.
So far, Russian authorities have not made public statements on US claims.
Moscow had previously accused the US CIA of interfering with other states' affairs, including the support of various buttons in the world.
The United States has intervened in foreign elections more than 80 times in the mid-2000s, without including the points and attempts to change powers, according to a database by researcher Don Levin of Carnegie Mellon University.
On Tuesday, State Department spokesman Ned Price, Russia's underground financing, called the “attack on sovereignty”.
Last year, US intelligence officials in a report estimated that Russian President Vladimir Putin had probably authorised attempts to influence the 2020 elections in America in favour of former President Donald Trump.
However, the report said no foreign government had affected the final results.
Russia had called these claims for election intervention as the groundless “”. /Periscopi/
