The wars, which erupted early Tuesday, mark the recent explosion among the great enemies, who fought a war in 2020 on the contested Nagorno-Karabakh region.
Each side blamed the other for fighting, writes Al Jazeera.
In a statement, Armenia's Defence Ministry said Azerbaijan began intensive “commitments against Armenian military positions in the direction of the cities of Goris, Sok and Jermuk at 00:05 in the morning Tuesday. Azerbaijann troops used the fears, as well as “artile and large calibration weapons”, he said.
Armenia's “Armed Forces have launched a proportional response”, he added.
But Azerbaijan's Defence Ministry accused Armenia of broad-scale subversive “act” near the Dashkesan, Kelbayar and Lacin regions on the border.
