In the margins of the 77th session of the United Nations Assembly, Russia and Serbia, namely Foreign Affairs Minister Nikola Sekalovic and Russia's Sergei Lavrov have signed an agreement to co-ordinate foreign policy.
This agreement is seen as the wrong step of official Belgrade. US Embassy in Kosovo, in response to “Ineksonline”, referring to US State Department spokesman, have stressed that the United States believes no country should expand co-operation with Russia while it continues its fight of aggression against Ukraine.
“Lami for this agreement signed with Russia was surprising and stands in stark contrast to other constructive meetings in New York with Serbian officials. Further alignment with Russia is a step in the wrong direction and contrary to Serbia's declared European aspirations”, the American Embassy's response reported.
We remember that even Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has declared that Serbia's agreement with Russia to co-ordinate foreign policy should alert Western leaders.
“With defence and security issues in Kosovo, we have defence ministers, we have defence ministers, we have ministers of home affairs, but we are democratic, progressive, and hopeful governments, as we face northern neighbours, who are led by a president of fear and threat, who except that he leads with a state in a non-democratic manner and does not recognise Kosovo and the crimes which Milosevic's regime has committed in Kosovo, also holds very close ties with the Russian federation, as we have seen recently with the agreement Serbian Foreign Minister signed with the one that should bring an alarm to the Western-democratic party, he said Saturday.
