The Kosovo issue has crashed Russia's and Albanian ambassador to the United Nations organisation on Tuesday.

It was Russian Ambassador Vasily Nebenzya, who at the UN Security Council meeting drew a parallel between Russia's conquering war in Ukraine and the recent war in Kosovo, which he accused the West of double standards.

He even went so far that he pressed charges even over the lack of a referendum in Kosovo. According to him, it was sufficient at the time for the West to recognise Kosovo's independence and confirmed that international law did not prevent it from declaring its independence until it added that they are otherwise approaching the Ukraine case.

He has mentioned the recently signed agreement of Serbia and Russia, which has prompted the Western response, as it came at a time when democratic countries have condemned and imposed sanctions on the Russian Federation. He said it is not fair to pressure Serbia to impose sanctions on Russia, when it has historical relations with this country.

“Dismissing Donbas residents in Ukraine's liberated territories -- the right to self-rule -- Western delegations are demonstrating their scandalous double standards. The most vocal critics of the referendum in Donbas, Zaporozhye and Hurston obelisk were, once in the face of supporting Kosovo's independence, then stated that the territory had the right to leave the Serbian state if there was a real threat that Kosovo Albanians' rights would be severely violated by so-called corrective continuity, and that this was not just a declaration, but the official legal stance presented by Western states to the UN International Court in 2008. At the time, Kosovo Albanians, however, were not threatened by anything, because Yugoslavia was no longer on the map, NATO bombed Serbia, had foreign troops as peacekeepers in it. I want to underline differently from the situation in Crime, the LPR and the DPR... and the Zaporozier people in Kosovo have absolutely not had a referendum, there is no free vote of people there, there has been only a declaration of independence, approved by the provisional self-government authorities that exceeded their competencies. At that time it was enough for the West to recognise Kosovo's independence and confirmed that international law did not prevent it from declaring its independence”, he said.

But immediate was Albania's ambassador to the UN, Ferit Hoxha, who said this statement of the Russian delegation for Kosovo is incorrect and wrong.

He has said that Kosovo and Serbia meet and dialogue, and that they do not fight.

Russia's “Delegation again drew a parallel with the Republic of Kosovo, an independent country that has been recognised by half of the United Nations, including half of this council, so this is wrong, incorrect and unfortunate... Nothing can be more artificial and forced than comparing international efforts to end the conflict, protect civilians and establish a peace process, find a lasting solution like the Kosovo case, with clean and unprotested aggression and the referendum currently being held in Ukraine. No one is, can't be deceived by this, nobody tries to compare the matchless, no shortcut from the historical and political context will help Russia turn its attention away from its war in Ukraine, or establish its international just bridge, which has made it an international parallel. Kosovo and Serbia are obliged to dialogue to solve their problems, they meet, do not fight”, he has said.

While Ukraine's president, Volodymyr Zelensky told the UN Security Council Tuesday that Russia must be isolated internationally for false referenda organised on his country's territory.
