Former Vetevendosje Movement Chairman Visar Ymer has said Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti and Serbia's President Aleksandar Vuciq will not return from Brussels without signing a deal, even a partial one.
He added that there will be agreements in Brussels on license issues and a declaration to be found out as the commitment of both leaders to proceed with dialogue.
According to Ymer, if the United States is involved in the dialogue, the prospects are high for mutual recognition, otherwise there can be no progress in the process.
“I think there may be partial agreements on specific issues, especially those that have fostered a troubled situation recently related to the targat travel documents”, he told Online Economy.
“... I think two things can come out of that first meeting is that there's probably going to be an agreement on how to go on with the license plate issue that has been being discussed for some time. And it's been said that there might be a joint statement on the issue of the undiscovered”, Ymer added.
I think we might have some kind of commitment, maybe both leaders, how we'll move forward in the dialogue process. There can be no quick deal. I think the interest of Western countries exists and the United States has to have an accelerated process of dialogue and reach an agreement. That also depends on the level of U.S. involvement. If the US is involved in the dialogue, I think we're likely to arrive sooner if not, I don't see a rapid progress in the” dialogue.
According to him, dialogue is at the technical level, so Kosovo must constantly insist on final agreements, so even Chief Prime Minister Kurti must insist on that.
I think the US has always been involved. Of course, without them there can be no solution because there is no other instance of power that could also play the role of guarantor implementation of agreements as the United States can. The dialogue is technical and I think Kosovo should constantly insist that final agreements be discussed and we have heard that Prime Minister Kurti will also take his position in Brussels to talk about the elements of the final agreement. All the disagreements we have regarding the free movement of people to the energy issue”, Ymer said.
